New: wishlists
Your child’s own Christmas and birthday wishlist
Making the wishlist isn’t a grown-up’s job. In the ChoreBucks app, kids write their wishes themselves, and once a parent allows it, they send the list as a link to grandparents, godparents and other relatives. Relatives reserve a gift, so nobody else buys the same.
Get ChoreBucksA kids’ Christmas wishlist that stays up to date
A paper note ends up with one grandparent, and wishes passed along in messages get mixed up. With the whole wishlist behind one link, everyone sees the same wishes and what has already been reserved.
How a child makes a wishlist
Open Lists
In their own app, the child taps the Lists icon (✓) in the top bar of their home screen and picks New wishlist.
Add wishes
With Add a wish, the child writes what they wish for. A price and a link to the shop are optional – the product picture comes from the shop with the link.
Ask to share
When the child taps Share, a parent gets a request and taps Allow. The child gets a notification when the list can be shared.
Send the link
The child shares the link from the phone’s share menu, for example in WhatsApp, a text message or an email. It opens in a browser, with no account or app needed.
What grandparents and godparents see
I’ll get this
A relative reserves a wish. Everyone else sees it as Reserved, so the same gift isn’t bought twice.
I’ll chip in
For a bigger wish, relatives can chip in with an amount. The money itself is arranged directly with the family, outside the app.
The surprise stays
The child doesn’t see who reserved what, unless a giver chooses to show their name. The parent sees reservations and pledges.
Several lists
A child can have several wishlists, for example one for Christmas and one for a birthday. They don’t count toward the family’s list limit.
A parent can make the list too
If your child doesn’t have a phone yet, make the wishlist for them: Lists tab → + → Wishlist. Choose who it is for (For whom?), give it a name and pick the occasion: Christmas, Birthday or Other. Wishes are added and the link is shared the same way.
Questions
